Nationwide Call for Action - Next Week - You are all invited to participate!
As you know, the signature gathering phase of the Recall Walker campaign will be ending this Saturday, Jan 14, with all petitions submitted to the Government Accountability Board (GAB) on Tuesday, Jan 17. It has been amazing to be in the streets and witness the courage and commitment of fellow activists. I'm told that 25,000 volunteers have been working across the state. And not just around Madison and Milwaukee: from Rhinelander to Racine, Bayfield to Janesville, LaCrosse to Sturgeon Bay, we have seen an unprecedented grassroots campaign that is changing political history as it holds politicians accountable for the governing of all people, not just the crony corporate plutocrats that prop up puppets who in turn line their greedy nests with the sweet deals of deregulation.
Our Daily Kos Community has been so supportive of our efforts here in Wisconsin to force the recall of Governor Walker. Perhaps you have followed the efforts and exploits and diaries by me and fellow Kossacks including Giles Goat Boy, Puddytat, stcroix cheesehead, Anniejo, Mark E. Anderson, rhubarb - among others.
The love and support from our Daily Kos Community is palpable. Here’s part of what I shared in a diary posted in December:
Together we are going to win this. We will win with creativity and perseverance and heart and good will. We will fight this governor's extremist and ideologically driven agenda, and we will prevail over the dump trucks full of money cascading like coal ash into our lakes, like mining magnates into our state.
Put simply, this struggle is our struggle.
Kossacks have reported seeing Recall Walker signs in other states besides the badger state. That inspired fellow Kossack TriangleNC to contact me and propose we celebrate and commemorate our local efforts by conducting our very own Daily Kos National Recall Walker Week.
Consider this an invitation to utilize and share your creativity to help make this happen. During the next week, make any large or small intervention, action, happening, protest, occupation. Make some signs for the roadside (see excellent poster making tips at Freeway Blogger's website). Or place some messages in more discreet spaces, like this button found among electrical switches in a Warsaw, Poland, apartment complex:
Conduct a few interviews about Wisconsin's struggles with strangers. Go on a week long cheese fast! Carry around a plastic palm tree. Wear a crazy cheesehead hat. Any action, no matter how big or how small, can be part of this call! Paint the side of your truck… or your rooftop!
Please share your ideas and plans and feedback in the comment section of this diary. Send me pictures, videos, or descriptions of your actions by the evening of Friday, Jan 13, and - if there are enough responses to this challenge - I will post a diary that highlights your creative work.
We can't do this without you. There are only three requirements: 1) you do something, 2) you document it, 3) you have fun!
