I'm grateful to our dedicated and talented pool of front-pagers. They're all awesome at what they do. And I continue to be proud of them and all the rest of the insightful, thoughtful diarists and discussionists here on Dkos.
But on one subject, I'm beginning to feel:
Enough is ENOUGH!
How many more images of Mittens' FACE do I have to look at? How many more entries and coverage of the miniscule details of who said what to whom in a dog & phony show GOP horse race that is really just the meanderings of a couple odius nags?
Do we REALLY need to keep such sharp attention on this rather meaningless theater?
This site was created to elect MORE AND BETTER DEMOCRATS. So, WHY are we paying deference to so much of the Republican shitstorm, when what each of them says is the same old pandering, dishonesty and deceit we ALWAYS hear from them, while at the same time, there are HUNDREDS OF DEMOCRATS already in Congress that almost NO ATTENTION is being paid to.
As Chris Hedges has said repeatedly, and with lots of justification, both parties are beholden to Wall Street and our formerly effective liberal establishments, which used to act as MORAL PRODS to the DEMOCRATS are impotent and largely arrested. We're not going to get shit from the Republicans - and the old radical forces on the left always KNEW that STRONG PRESSURE MUST BE APPLIED TO DEMOCRATS in order to make them do WHAT IS RIGHT.
Yes, we have OWS, and it is SO INSPIRING and within the movement we're working our butts off. And I guess I'm probably part of the problem because I haven't been looking much at the Democrats, either. Maybe I'm just overwhelmed.
And for real change to come we must work AROUND THE SYSTEM. But, why then, all of this fetishizing with the heave and ho of the vacuousness of this GOP "race."
And I'm not a canabalizing sort, but we should be KICKING THE SHIT out the Dems in Congress (the Prez, too) who sit around and twiddle their thumbs, allowing the GOP to define the agenda, slouching against the trenches, letting thier bayonettes rust and playing a weak defense that amounts to ducking their heads and maybe no one will notice their cowardice. Maybe I'm simply frustrated at the NOTHING MEANINGFUL that's coming from them. I mean, they seem to have no spark, no life, like their DEAD. I'm OUTRAGED that Levin and the other Dems among that UNANIMOUS Armed Services Committee made NO effort to BANISH those unconstitutional sections of NDAA. It's sweet as a plum rose daisy that Obama issued his "signing statement" (though I thought those days were over with slithering out of war criminal W). But there should NEVER have been a reason for him to feel (however orchestrated the feeling) it necessary to issue one in the first place.
President Obama has done some good things - things I'm grateful for. But SO MUCH MORE could have been, should have been not just done but RIGHTED. I mean, we have a virtual mini-tyranny waiting in the wings with the dozens of ways the Constitution has been reduced to little more than a lsting of OH-GEE-THOSE-WOULD-BE-SWELLs.
Our Republic is just about VANISHED. Perhaps had another Democrat surfaced early as a primary challenger - a solid leftist, perhaps (Bernie Sanders maybe) - Obama and congressional Dems might have been feeling some fire.
THAT is what is needed. Not just this cycle. Not just til November. But EVERY DAY AND ALWAYS.
Thanks for listening. Time to take a break now, see how much road salt I can gather for Occupy Pittsburgh, and somehow gather the audacity to hope that when I return I won't find more tedium over this worthless primary. G'nite you lovely kossacks.
