Mitt Romney has outdone himself with the flip-flops in his victory speech last night. Within about a minute, he said the following:
He [President Obama] wants to turn America into a European-style entitlement society. We want to ensure that we remain a free and prosperous land of opportunity.
This President takes his inspiration from the capitals of Europe; we look to the cities and small towns of America.
Then, the following:
He chastises friends like Israel; I’ll stand with our friends.
He apologizes for America; I will never apologize for the greatest nation in the history of the Earth.
Well, except for apologizing for the President having the temerity to criticize Israeli policiies, I guess.
And then, the following:
I want you to remember when our White House reflected the best of who we are, not the worst of what Europe has become.
So we don't chastise our friends, unless they're from Europe. (Or did he forget that he said we don't chastise our friends within moments of saying it?) Or in a Mittens administration, would we be in a Cold War with all of Europe? Given his attitude toward countries south of our border, he evidently doesn't have much use for them (even though his father was born there, his family having fled the United States to achieve freedom from our laws). And he's basically announced that he'd start a trade war with China and a hot war with Iran. So do I take it that Mittens regards Israel as our only friend? Or has he again proven that he'll flop around like a landed fish, saying whatever he thinks people want to hear in order to get their votes?
