There's an old saying that "Politics makes strange bedfellows." In the case of Newt Gingrich, perhaps that should be amended to "carfellows." And I'll pause a moment for those who are now rushing for the brainbleach to clear that image from their minds.
I never would have imagined that even Gingrich, as unprincipled a sleazebag as I've ever seen, would align himself against the 1 %, but I just finished watching "When Mitt Romney Came To Town," the 28 minute long video Gingrich's superPAC is running in South Carolina, and I urge every Kossack to watch it.
The video is at times an almost hysterically funny example of propaganda designed to appeal to the wingnuts. We learn, apropos of nothing, that Mitt Romney speaks French! Dah dah duhhhhhhhh!
In a section devoted to Bain's fleecing of Kay-Bee toys, we listen to audio of a newsman urging gift card holders to redeem them immediately, as a wide-eyed child sits on the floor with a look that says "The bad man is taking away my toys!"
But the video itself is undeniably powerful, and does a good job of articulating the sort of vulture capitalism that Romney has built his quarter billion dollar fortune upon.
The prospect of watching Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, the two most venal, amoral, and nakedly selfish politicians in the USA today destroy each other, while (one can hope,) bringing their venal, amoral, and nakedly selfish party to ruination has me saying "Pass the popcorn!"
