Just when you thought it couldn't possibly get any worse for Wisconsin governor Scott Walker ... with a recall election now certain ...
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin will turn down $37 million from the federal government that had been awarded to help implement health care exchanges under President Barack Obama's health care reform law, Gov. Scott Walker said Wednesday.
Dude: when you're in a hole – stop digging.
In a move that seems certain to speed his downfall (with everyone but Republicans -- and maybe even some of them), Walker now turns down $37 million bucks, which is roughly 700 job-years either 700 jobs, or one-third of a CEO. The reason? He doesn't like Obamacare, and therefore nobody in Wisconsin really needs the statewide health insurance exchange the money is designed to set up.
The American Cancer Society has already condemned the move.
"A robust, consumer-friendly health exchange designed specifically for Wisconsin would greatly expand access to care to those who need it most, while preserving what already works. It's unfortunate the (Walker) administration is deciding to ignore this reality," said Allison Miller, Wisconsin government relations director for the American Cancer Society.
It's been said before, but let's all just let this sink in: Walker, you're a tool.
