While all eyes have been focused on the shiny objects in Florida--for obvious reasons--Dems in Oregon have managed to hold on to the First District seat David Wu was forced to vacate.
Suzanne Bonamici, a former state legislator, won by 15%, but, in order to hold on to the seat for a full two-year term, will need to clear the primary hurdles in May and the general in November, which, in a presidential election year, is likely to have a strong Dem turnout. Remember that Oregon has had 100% vote by mail (or drop off at official sites) for several years, so voter turn-out in Oregon is routinely higher than many states, not to mention hassle-free (hint, hint Ohio, Florida, et al.).
