Happy Friday! Hey, if you've not visited my "Howl" diary from earlier today, what the spark are you waiting for - next Christmas?! :D AND, since it is Friday, but Keith's still on the DL,we need a little James Thurber AND WPITW.
...still can't believe he put on a Guy Fawkes mask... :)
It's time for SPARK! As if food vendors at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday won't have enough on their plate... CRAP! So, THAT'S where my stash got to! :) File this news item under "No $hit, Sherlock!" Finally, I'm sure now someone somewhere will demand "parent advisory" labels on Valentine's Day candy.
Let's Countdown!
And, HHHhhhEEEeerRRRRRrrrEEEeee'SSSSssss David Shuster - many thanks! :D
#5 "On the Job" AKA "Employment Rising" - I wonder how many GOBP secretly plotzed this morning when the unemployment numbers came out?! ;D And, yet, they still found ways to poo - poo the news. 243,000 jobs were added in January. The unemployment rate is now 8.3% - the lowest in nearly 3 years. President Obama would like for Congress to pass the payroll tax cuts & unemployment insurance post haste; don't hold your breath, Mr. President. Only Newtie managed to point out that if this trend continues, it can only work to President Obama's advantage. Mittens is on deck to absolutely CRUSH the other MENSA members, but Rep. Paul's doing all he can. Mittens is STILL trying to walk back his "poor" comment. He actually finally realizes he sparked up now?! Daniel Gross gets the fun job of talking the better numbers on the economic front. Previous months' jobs numbers were revised up, too! The new jobs came from all over the place. If the payroll tax cut holiday ends, we'll all bring home less coin from our paychecks. First - time unemployment claims are down, which means fewer people competing for jobs. The stock market reacted favorably to the good news. Whatever ends up happening in Europe will affect what happens here, but Congress could be our worst most close enemy as far as continued growth. OK! *&^%$#@! Nia Malika Henderson gets to follow up Mr. Gross. Everyone's talking points were nicely coordinated: "We could do better." Yea...well...{insert Bronx raspberry here}. Senator Reid & Senate Dems were the object of "warm & fuzzy feelings" today? Huh. As many jobs have been created up to the point in the Obama Presidency as were created THE ENTIRE 8 YEARS GWB blessed the Oval Office with his presence. Even fellow MENSA members didn't like Mittens' "very poor" comments, so it was B...A...D.
#4 "Protecting their Investment" AKA "Security in Exchange" - The SEC has, it would seem, fallen down on the job a bit in the "security" area. They've let big banks settle out of court for fines instead of them answering for what they've done in court. The NY AG ain't satisfied - GOOD! Matt Taibbi must need a shower at the end of every day after wading through all this $hit. He's not impressed with what President Obama had to say about the SEC in the SOTU because the SEC isn't doing what they're supposed to be doing to begin with. The object of the NY AG's ire is the electronic foreclosure system that's mucked up so many people's mortgages. It sounds like the SEC needs some new blood because they've been hiring people from the very banks they're supposed to be investigating.
"Time Marches On!" - Some sheep washed a car in the former Soviet Union. A car drove into a bike shop - repeatedly. A little guy is already quite the ping pong player! :)
#3 "Komen Around" AKA "Change of Heart" - OK, I've been getting conflicting information all day about the significance of Komen's Planned Parenthood decision. It sounds to me like they'll reinstate the funding for the remainder of this year, but future years aren't guaranteed. Well, no matter what the results will be from what was announced today, I think the Susan G. Komen brand is forever - damaged. I've seen those pink baseball bats being made at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory! You can even buy 1 & personalize it. :) Over $3 million has been donated to Planned Parenthood over the last few days! Jess McIntosh thinks the Komen peeps really screwed the pooch the last few days. More pro - choice Dem women need to be elected in order to counteract the mysogonistic hatred of women's health issues in Congress. Senator Diaper Boy didn't like what Komen did today; he wants the Komen folk to begin distributing diapers.
#2 "Big Pimpin'" - Rep. Ron Paul got an endorsement from a group today that I'd wager a whole lot of politicos secretly would LOVE to get; the Bunny Ranch made him an offer he may or may not refuse! :D And, DO NOT make me think about Rep. Paul "knowing his way around a woman!" EEEeeeeWWWWwwww! The campaign peeps turned down the money but encouraged them to give it to his SuperPAC. HA!
#1 "Occupy the Super Bowl" AKA "XLVI Occupy" - Yea, the protestors are out in my fair city! Look at the protestors in front of the Hyatt! They've got a spinning restaurant at the top of their place, ya' know. :) There are no plans to interrupt the actual game - BUMMER! ;D Not - My - Man Mitch is worried all this labor stuff around Super Bowl time is going to give Indiana a black eye?! Dear heart, you did that LONG ago. *&^%$#@! Mike Biskar has helped lead some of the protests - including the one at the Hyatt today. We don't have any unionized hotels here - a huge shock, I know. Ugh...I am SO EMBARRASSED to be a "Hoosier." NFL union folk were in front of the Hyatt today, too.
