I'm exhausted.
The disadvantage of being white, middle-class, and from the South is that it seems like everybody you know -- including your family -- hates every single thing you stand for.
They simply refuse to accept facts. The January jobs report comes out, and they ignore all the jobs being created and continue to talk about how Obama is ruining the economy. They start with an assumption -- Obama is ruining the economy -- and zone in on facts that support that. The unemployment numbers are misleading because they don't include discouraged workers. Then they dismiss any indication that the economy is doing better.
They hate unions. They get their marching orders from their corporate masters, who believe that Unions Are Evil and must be destroyed, whether that's public employee unions (they're bankrupting the government!) or private sector unions. Apparently people should be grateful to even have a job, regardless of how little they get paid, how poor their benefits are, or what sort of working conditions they are subjected to.
With taxes lower than they've ever been, they think taxes should be even lower. They're fine with Mitt Romney paying the same tax rate as I do, even though Romney's annual income is about 500 times greater than my own. After all, Romney has earned every dollar and he deserves it. And they think that the budget must be balanced, RIGHT NOW.
I'm sick of it. Really.
I hope these assholes never win an election again. Seriously. I hate Republicans.
I just had to get that off my chest.
