As an Arizona resident, I am getting really fed up with this constant push to force gun ownership into our daily lives. The right to not bear arms should be just as important (or more so) than the right to bear arms. Below is my email/web contact form/facebook post to Starbucks on the matter.
Starbucks,
My wife and I express our sincere disapproval of your recent stance supporting open carry in your establishments. As residents of Arizona and parents of a 16 month old, we are all too aware that our state is ranked eighth in gun related deaths. We are tired of this state's continual push to push gun ownership beyond a constitutional right but a requirement for daily life. My wife and I are uncomfortable with guns but feel we are constantly pressured by society to own one. Your support of these laws adds additional pressures which is unacceptable. Freedom of gun ownership should be as important as freedom from gun ownership.
This email is to let your corporate office know that the Phatcat Cane household will be transferring the thousand of dollars we spend annually at your Starbucks locations, affiliates and products such as K-cups to your competitors that respect OUR right to be FREE from the need to own a gun. We do this not only in our disapproval of your position on the issue but also for the safety of our 16 month old son. A place of business that could potentially be full of lethal weapons is no place for a child and therefor no place for us.
Please reconsider your position on this matter. We feel that you are at odds with your core customers.
Sincerely,
Mr. & Mrs. Phatcat Cane
