Is this a first on dailykos? I'm citing to a celebrity gossip site for this hilarious/horrifying report on the Jim Bob Duggar family's enthusiastic support for American Taliban Mullah Rick Santorum!
The Duggar family, of 19 Kids and Counting fame, has been campaigning for Santorum, of course. And Mrs. Duggar has some advice for the women folk:
Here’s a small sample of what she said, and you can re-read our previous story if you missed it. “Husbands are commanded to govern their wives; God works through a man’s decisions… Ask your husband to define your responsibilities; Ask your husband to tell you when you have a resistant spirit; dispel a backbiting tongue by silence.”
Michelle wants a man to tell her what to do in all matters, so it’s not surprising that she and her husband are publicly endorsing a Presidential candidate who feels like he can do the same for the women of America.
And it also makes my blood boil when they say they want an President who "honors God" as if President Obama does not.
Apparently holier-than-thou types think they know best and their way is the only way. Given Michelle Duggar's submissive role, I'm not sure why I should listen to her on anything. If I want an opinion, I'll ask Jim Bob - who tells Michelle what to think.
I'm curious how the capitalist meritocracy is then supposed to apply to women. Does it apply at all? Santorum says to eliminate poverty we should marry off poor young women (child brides?). So capitalism is so great, it doesn't work for women? A meritocracy is so important, women should eliminate themselves from its functioning completely? Find a husband! Submit to him! And PRAY he never leaves you and your children, as you without an education or a job won't be able to support them. Maybe the church can line you up for an arranged marriage.
But go read the comments to the article. I hope this is an expression of how most Americans are feeling at this point.
