Neo-Nazis, racist skinheads, Christian Identity followers, and other white nationalists are planning a rally against 'genocide' of white South Africans on Monday, February 27th from Noon - 3pm.

According to ADL:

"A coterie of American white supremacists is working to organize “nationwide” protests for February 27, 2012, as part of an effort dubbed the South Africa Project (SAP). This “project” has as its stated goal stopping the alleged “genocide of Whites” in South Africa. Participants and organizers include representatives from all five of the major white supremacist movements in the United States (neo-Nazis, racist skinheads, “traditional” white supremacists, Christian Identity adherents, and racist prison gangs). In particular, adherents of the racist and anti-Semitic religious sect Christian Identity are involved with the protests."

Taken from the South Africa Project, which rails against "Jews" and "Communism," a protest is planned in Sacramento on February 27th. View their very poorly designed flyer at: http://www.southafricaproject.info/...

One of the groups sponsoring the event is Golden State Skinheads, a racist skinhead group that has organized demonstrations in the past in Central California. View their site here: http://www.goldenstateskinheads.com/...

For links on other protests being planned in other cities, go here: http://www.southafricaproject.info/...

Events are organized by a wide variety of Neo-Nazi skinhead, Klan, and white nationalist groups. Stop the Nazis in their tracks!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I didn't watch the whole thing.  I'm confused because I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for and the only thing is that your title makes it sound as if it's the police who are to be regarded as the Nazis, which having read a lot of your work, I don't think that's what you'd mean.

and occupy group showed up to counter a rally in sacramento.  according to the news reported as it occurred, the occupiers (SOME of them) started throwing bottles and rocks as the police tried to come between a confrontation of the two groups and two police officers were transported to the hospital with injuries.

what did the police do about it?  they arrested TWO protesters!  the police were there to prevent an all out riot, two were injured yet they only arrested TWO protesters?

some extremist action by the police, eh?

There were a few people that came up from Oakland and the papers decided to turn it into an "Occupy" protest.  It was organized by Central Valley Anti-fascist organizations.  Anti-fa groups tend to get pretty physical in these confrontations and I wouldn't be surprised if it was them and not any of the occupiers that started the brick throwing.  From the video I've seen and the reports I read it sounds like most of the throwing stuff was directed at the nazis and not the police, who were just caught in the crossfire as it were.  I can't really blame the police for this one, it's not like they can just let a bunch of people fight, regardless of how abhorrent one side may be.

To put this in perspective, the central valley has a growing problem with nazi and white power groups and anti-fa groups try to regularly confront them at their protests, sometimes violently.  It's a tough situation because what they are doing is what worked to run the nazi skins out of the bay area, so it's hard for me to argue with in term of tactics.

There revolution will not be televised. But it will be blogged, a lot. Probably more so than is necessary.

that was my gut reaction, too, that the police were caught in the middle of a potential riot.

i guess i was hoping that the anti-police crowd would do the right thing and put up a diary on the correct response by the police tonite.  i guess i'm a tad cynical now, especially given the misleading title of this diary... but i expected that, unfortunately.

  •  God bless the ant-fascists in any culture (10+ / 0-)

And God bless the African Americans who have the guts to fight neonazis.

Americans are sleeping, just like the German people did in the 30's.

Fortunately there are still communities of decent people with real American values who are willing to fight the fascists.

  •  Freedom of speech allows the Nazis (6+ / 0-)

While I find those who hold these views disgusting and dangerous, they have a right to protest.

That said, the constant restrictions on the press is also disgusting.

I do not know why occupiers are being arrested, have not seen this happen live. But it seems wrong based on what I have been able to figure out thus far. (not surprised unfortunately)

But I can tell you that if the occupy group was making obvious claims that they wanted to kick the Nazis asses the police have no option other than to keep the two groups apart.

I was in Skokie back in the day (1970s) when the Nazis wanted to march there, and many of my Jewish friends wanted to go kick their asses. While I understand the desire to kick their butts, it doesn't help a damned thing.

Counter protests (peaceful) are another story altogether and should be allowed.

reason.  Suppose these Nazi idiots gained more followers!  Right now, I think the Occupiers can beat them in crowd size anytime they want to try it.  Imagine a world though, where protesters against the Nazidiots were outnumbered by the Neo-Fascists. Good thing they are small in number.   Imagine an Occupy rally being outnumbered by white power dimwits (sometimes I am ashamed to be white)!  We would need protection then.  I am actually surprised we haven't really seen a lot of counter-protest for Occupy (some anti-Occupy people out there in Oakland now).  I think that a majority of Americans have some positive view of Occupy.  We came out in larger and larger numbers as the months have gone by.  Springtime is coming.  There will be huge crowds.  Its time has come.  This is the movement of our time.

Don't forget!  Take off May 1st now if you are able to schedule any vacation time (provided you actually get vacation time - some do not).  May 1 is the worldwide day to be in the streets.  International Workers' Day is the commemoration of the 1886 Haymarket Massacre in Chicago.

Labor is important to America.  I have already asked for this day off, so if the high-mucky-mucks decide that people can't take May Day day - off, too bad for the mucky mucks - I scheduled my day off that day long in advance - and the rules in my line of work say that they can't take back the approval I already got.  I am fortunate. To be clear - I will never look down on any worker that cannot put things on the line like the job they could lose - and not be able to feed their family, or the fact that some simply don't get days off - ever.  Those workers can support the idea in other ways!  Perhaps blogging (if you can get away with it) or even just wearing a Union Local t-shirt, or even just spreading the word ahead of time.  I might write a Diary about all the goings-on that will take place on May Day (in fact, the idea appeals to me - look for it soon).  But be ready for worldwide action, protest, gatherings, sick-outs, pickets, you name it.  May 1.  Don't forget.  May Day!!!

confronting these nazi groups is that part of the nazi mythology is that they have some claim to great physical prowess and by physically confronting them you deny them that claim.  Given the general American view of nazis I don't know that this is necessarily correct.  I will note that just because this specific rally was peaceful that there isn't a physical threat from nazis and sympathizers in the area.  They may not attack PoC at their rallies but some of them most assuredly do at other times.

some kind of crutch to throw a protest.  The crap they had on the signs, and the vile spewing from their bullhorns made it very clear what they were there for.  Stupidly, they did this in a place where - when they leave the Capitol steps, there just aren't enough cops to follow the groups as they left.  As I left downtown, the sirens got louder, and more frequent, cop cars every block with all their lights flashing, two cop choppers in the air, etc.

The protest might be over, but both sides seem to have taken the argument a few streets down.

The Nazis were outnumbered by the other protesters by a factor of at least five to one.  These Nazis are straight up idiots.  We kept listening for shots fired, but heard none (thankfully).
