Japanese researchers have invented a speech-jamming device that works at a distance of more than a hundred feet. It records the speaker's voice with a directional mic, then uses a directional speaker to play it back at the speaker with about a .2 second delay.
This confuses the speaker's brain and brings them to an inarticulate halt, able only to make sounds like "ahhhhhh" or repeat Republican talking points.
I wonder how many the NYC police will purchase to silence General Assembly speakers at the spring resurgence of OWS.
I can see them being very popular with Republican politicians at Town Hall meetings, with aides standing by equipped to silence anyone with a different idea. I look forward to seeing them used on uncooperative witnesses in Congressional hearings.
Is messing with someone's brain like this a form of assault? Using one is an intentional interference with the person.
Is it a civil rights offense? Or is it the future? I am seriously curious about how this would fit into society.
