I doubt a single person will respond, but you never know. I've already wrote this up to publish at a few WordPress boards, so why not cut and paste and put it here.
Whenever I talk "shop" here I am often asked if I need any help. Do I have any work? Alas, my business is not at that level yet. It pains me how many smart, tech people are here that can't find jobs. 99.9% of the time all I have to offer is, "I am sorry." Today I might have a job.
If you know WordPress. Gravity Forms. SQL. PHP.* Well then follow me below the fold for what I need.
*I'd say knowing Gravity Forms and WordPress is secondary to knowing SQL and PHP.
This is what I have posted in a few WordPress forums:
I wouldn't call myself an expert with WordPress, but I have something of a clue. Been using it daily for like six years. I long ago stopped coding sites by hand and started using WordPress. I love it. And even better my clients love it.
My question is I have a transportation company that has just paid like $50,000 for advance GPS routing software. They work for a few pretty well known nation brands, that believe it or not, still handle shipping information via fax.
They want to move to, well not using paper anymore.
I need a third party developer to help me expand the functionality of Gravity Forms (I am open to other ideas) to FTP information entered by a client on a WordPress site, with a preset number of fields (the routing company will provide) to their server so it can be entered automatically into their software.
This is a place where I feel I know enough to get myself in trouble. Or I know enough to know I don't know enough. This is a VERY real opportunity. You would have direct 24/7 contact with me and direct contact with the GPS/software routing company's technical POC.
I just am not sure where to look for people that can handle this type of work. Sure I know where to find template developers. Plug-in developers. But where can I find people that have a "strong" background in working, tweaking, and expanding Gravity Forms?
Thanks in advance for any input. My email is in my profile, which you can feel free to use.
Tommy
I'll add a little more for you guys and gays. WordPress works off a SQL database. Anybody that fills out a form via Gravity Forms, well the content goes there. Right now I can get at that data via an email send when somebody completes a form or via the database directly. It is all dyamically pulled from that database.
Well I need that info not emailed, but sent via FTP to a server so it can populate routing software that will tell the driver where to go on their GPS.
My gut this should be simple. Not rocket science. That data is already there. Instead of the "system" sending out an email it FTPs it. But as I said, I feel I know enough to get myself in trouble.
If, IF somebody here can do this work I'd give my right arm to give it to them.
