Following his bloviating for some time. What becomes clear is he gets trapped in an event or moment. Then stays there. Tries banging it in. Hopes if he beats the listener over the head enough it gets in. And he 'wins.' By being loud and repetitive.
This afternoon began on such a note. WABC New York Aircast.
37 spots. 28 paid spots. Several repeats.
Enjoy.
(It would make sense that Limbaugh and Premiere are insured against a loss of revenue from events like this. If anyone would know about that, do tell...)
He excused yesterday's absence by saying he was at a charity golf event hosted by Ernie Els. Other guests included Marvin Shanken (Cigar Afficianado Magazine has had Rush on a cover) and Rudy Giuliani.
Obama's polls, the economy, and the war on women are still his topics. He's trying to convince his listeners that there has been no improvement in the economy. But the news briefs played during his show cite date showing there is. No wonder his fans are confused. Who's in charge of facts here?
Mickey Kaus, at The Daily Caller, appears to be feeding him lines. On the New York Times poll today, Limbaugh used a lot of Kaus' blurb. The 'war on women' and attack on him aren't working, based on the NYT and WaPo polls. Women are split as to whether health insurance plans should cover birth control. But they weren't asked about ED meeds.
"We're not gonna get in trouble for that, are we?" Which was calling the National Organization for Women 'nags.' An affectionate name.
He played, then played again, two sets of soundbites from pundits like Brokaw, Cafferty, ABC's John Berman on how the contraception and birth control issue was a give to Obama. To illustrate how just a week later, Obama's polls are in the tank.
For a moment he turned to Steven Chu, energy secretary. "If this administration tries to take us off oil, we'll move backward to the seventeenth century. The engine of freedom is fueled by oil at free market price." During a rant about high gas prices, of course. I mean, if free market speculators push up the cost of a barrel of irk, how is that not fueling the engine of freedom?
He got himself into such a lather that he totally messed up his explanation of how employers feel about having to cover contraception. Then gave an even more confusing attempt at correction. Something about Karen Tumulty.
Don't ask him too many questions at once. He may need another round of golf.
First hour ads. 37 spots checked. The asterisk means 'Ad Council" tag on three spots was not being used on what could be 'freebies.' Perhaps to obscure that they are 'freebies.' Six promos. 28 Paid. And notice the number of repeats. There was a memo from Premiere suggesting certain spots be inserted where sponsors had pulled out. We're seeing evidence of that now.
You were waiting for the name Sandra Fluke? Of course, he can't help himself. He tied the HBO movie "Game Change" to her and Obama by way of Anita Dunn. Doing public relations for the movie and Ms. Fluke. It's a plan by Obama, of course. Like trying to get hispanic support by going after voter ID laws in Texas (which really stings the wingnuts of all states that have tried this.) And that sudden 'phony victim' idea that black men are more likely to get punished in school than children of other races.
Anyway, life beckons.

226 Update - (His own product...? That's who's left?)
He's down to a very long promo (nearly four minutes at this point as I write this) of his own brand of tea. Ties in to Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation - as a sponsor?
