Even when Occupiers do not remain on public space and branch out to facilities that are privately owned it seems TPTB still want to disrupt their activities. The livestream team in NYC learned this. And now Occupiers in A Miami suburb also have been harassed by the police and FBI.
The entire building was cleared of residents and they were forced to remain in the parking area for several hours while the building was searched. For what were they searching for no one besides the police and whomever issued the warrant knows. Not coincidentally the Occupiers were preparing to go on a march as the police rolled up.
With the timing of the raid it is apparent that this was a transparent attempt to stifle attendance for the march.
Good evening Occupy Miami, it has been brought to our attention that there are a few things we feel we need to clarify; there are details which have been a bit isolated. First off, the building we are currently occupying has been donated to us the night of our eviction on Jan 31st by an occupier, we are not at this building illegally. What transpired today was a raid, NOT an eviction which we feel was a fear tactic. No one was arrested. 3 were put in cuffs and 3 others were detained without cuffs and all were eventually let go. They came to terrorize us then left. But in true occupy spirit, we commenced with our rally and march. We won't stop because we can't stop. ;D
The videographer was still scared witless and was trying to conceal his camera in this video resulting in poor visuals.
From the you tube page:
As we were leaving to do a march and rally multiple trucks and cars filled with SWAT looking officers with military armament came and drew their weapons on us and proceeded to round up all Occupiers and tenants and put them on the ground along with searching us and most rooms in the building. They had assault rifles and tactical shotguns. They were accompanied by FBI Agents and City of Miami police. These people were extremely violent and looked anxious to use their weapons so this first video was taken under my leg. This whole situation is very strange. Police state is nearly upon us.
These actions by the police will not stop the Occupy Movement but they do reveal the power of the Occupy Movement and how frightened those in power find actual democracy.
