"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal.
Love leaves a memory no one can steal". An old Irish saying
My Mom passed away a year ago this past January(she lived to be 90). I found this Irish saying on the internet, searching for something to say at her funeral. Then, I added my own words as to what I perceived as the essence of her: love.
This is what I said;
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory that no one can steal.
All of my life I have known that my Mother loves me.
Her fervent desire was to give her children that which she herself was denied as a child; the unconditional love of a mother for her children.
This was her gift to her sons, and by extension, to her daughters(more than once she told me "my Daughter in Laws are not my Daughter in Laws; they are my Daughters").
Then there were Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; for Mom, it was just more children needing love.
Thanks, Mom
