Update The Senate voted to indefinitely suspend LD1860 Thursday morning, which which will place the question on the ballot in November.
The bill is very similar to the same-sex marriage law that was overturned by a people's veto in 2009. The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and the Portland Dioceses have already pledged to defeat this years ballot question.

Yesterday, Secretary of State Charlie Summers notified that he had certified the enough signatures had been collected to turn a petition to allow same-sex couples in Maine to marry into a bill. This became LD1860, An Act To Allow Marriage Licenses for Same-sex Couples and Protect Religious Freedom. You can find the complete bill below.
This morning the House moved to indefinitely suspend the bill, which will send it next to the Senate. If the Senate as expected follows suit, it will then go to voters as a ballot question in November.
