but not yet toast. I can take pictures off of it, and with some work and playing with settings and buttons eventually get it so it will take new pictures - but that takes a very long time.
It's like the shutter is stuck and all I'm doing is confusing it so it eventually opens the shutter. I fear that may soon stop working. So I cringed mightily, checked my finances, and ordered a replacement camera.
Y'all know I need a camera so I can give you fresh Itzl pics and Xoco pics and so on.
I ordered an older model Nikon CoolPics S4100. The biggest differences between it and my toasty little Canon SureShot is that the Nikon removes red eye in the camera and it allows me to select the area I want in focus rather than selecting focal points for me. I should have it Friday or Monday.
In the meantime, I fiddle with this poor Canon. I wonder how long it will actually last?
Today is seriously overcast and wet (and much cooler than the weekend was), so lighting isn't all that great.
I need to finish unpacking from MedFair and to do some fund seeking for OctopodiCon. So far, we've operated in the black, but we have a huge deposit on the convention center coming up in 4 weeks, and we're short of the funds we need for that. The kickstarter project doesn't seem to have the full support of my ConCom, and that's almost entirely due to the fact that none of us are performer-oriented - we don't shoot YouTubes or videos to share, for example, and none of us have a YouTube account (that can be changed easily enough). I've been trying to get with one of our ConCom who has video knowledge, but he's proving elusive.
So, I'm working on a still montage to put together, and hope to have it completed this weekend.
Right this instant, though, I have to head to Texas - my brother is in ICU and I hold his medical PoA (this angers his wife, but it's his fault for not changing it after they got back together again). If he survives this, I will make him change it.
In the meantime, here are a couple of pics from Water Paws:
And they came with this darling puppy:
