Hi there, fellow Kossack!
You may or may not know me. I've been hanging around these parts for quite awhile - 7/7/2004, to be exact. Much has happened in all of our lives since then. One constant for me has been DailyKos.
A handful of years back, someone decided it would be cool if a group of activist Kossacks could get together and network, plan, and share ideas. The result was YearlyKos. Then, as today, I was out of work and couldn't make the trip. As YKos morphed into Netroots Nation, one thing or another (primarily financial) has prevented me from making it to subsequent conferences. I contribute what I can to the Netroots for the Troops care package effort every year, but registration, travel and lodging to the NN meetups were beyond my financial means.
After writing a diary in support of NFTT a month or so back, I decided it might be really cool to help in Providence with the packing of the care packages for troops and veterans. You can help me realize that dream.
In 2012, my financial situation hasn't changed much, and at 58 I no longer expect major money windfalls in my life. But an opportunity has arisen this year for me to actually make it to Providence on a DFA scholarship, and I could sincerely use your support. I'm not asking you to dig into your wallet -- a simple click on this link will do it -- read a bit about me, then click on the "Add Your Support" button on my DFA page if you are so moved.
The second round of DFA NN2012 scholarships ends at 11:59PM PDT on April 15th, and there are several other Kossacks who are also seeking your support. If you're one of them, feel free to hijack my diary comments with a link to your DFA page, and I'll put the link in the body of this diary later today.
(My sincere thanks to AdamB for promoting the second round of NN2012 scholarships earlier in the week!)
