For sure the Beatles would be banned by the GOP Taliban in today's sexually tainted xtian republican politics and soon to be Do Not United States or suffer jail or other consequences.

I feel like my brain is on drugs-fried by the Stupid laws being passed by Crazy People.
With the Arizona Gov. Brewer's signing of the 'Egg-drop' law and now this against Puppy-Love Law in Tennessee, I wish I died and went to Heaven already.

Hand-Holding Is A ‘Gateway Sexual Activity’

Like any state legislature dealing with 8 percent unemployment and thousands of its residents facing disenfranchisement, the Tennessee Senate is targeting the menace of underage hand-holding.

Last week, the Senate passed SB 3310, a bill to update the state’s abstinence-based sex education curriculum to define holding hands and kissing as “gateway sexual activities.” Just one senator voted against the legislation; 28 voted in favor.

Why??
Bill would define holding hands, kissing as "gateway sexual activity"

The ghost of Rep. Henry Hyde must be very active.

In 1971 Americans United For Life was started to fight Roe vs Wade with adulterer Henry Hyde leading the way.

Americans United for Life

Americans United for Life (AUL) is an American pro-life public interest law firm and advocacy group based in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1971, the group advocates protection of human life at all stages of life, from conception to death, and is involved in related issues of health and biotechnology.[1] The organization has led campaigns and been involved in judicial actions to prevent the passage and implementation of legislation that permits abortion, or may increase prevalence of abortion, including successfully defending the Hyde Amendment in the U.S. Supreme Court. It also works to create and support legal protections for unborn children, including increased protection for pregnant women, for which it has drafted model legislation.

--
AUL was founded in Washington, D.C. in 1971, two years prior to the nationwide legalization of abortion following the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade.[2] The organization's first chairman of the board was a Unitarian minister and then-Hollis Professor of Divinity at Harvard Divinity School, George Huntson Williams

--
AUL writes model legislation every year and makes it available on the web for state legislators and others involved in the policy process.

So this Political War on Women and Hypocritical Pro-Life crap has been going on for decades

So much of the Legislature we see being 'argued' and passed is written by Outsiders. Many (maybe most) laws are written by OUT-Sourced groups. (AUL, ALEC etc.,) That alone strikes me as Treasonist, meaning here we elect people to represent us and THEY are not actually working for their paid-for-by-tax-payers salaries.

(No wonder those 1% don't want higher taxes, They are paying for these Stupid Laws and figure they've invested enough money in the U.S....BINGO!)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

The bill doesn't say anything about handholding.  Rather, hand holding is something that the tv station that originally reported the bill thought could be considered gateway activity.

suspicion among the RW is so churchy. The Founders knew morality can not be imposed from above.  Now kids will have to sneak off and hold hands and hand holding will increase as well as the inevitable activity I learned about teaching high school for years and watching monkey island at the zoo one afternoon.  Very similar places in reality.

The govt can't keep the Koch's from polluting cause that is a govt intrusion but can order the rape of a pregnant woman with a 10" wand and keep kids from holding hands.

The proper place of religion in society as expressed by Rev. John Leland, Jeffersons and Madisons Baptist supporter in the Virginia Religious Freedom act.

Disdain mean suspicion, but cherish manly jealousy; be always jealous of your liberty, your rights. Nip the first bud of intrusion on your constitution. Be not devoted to men; let measures be your object, and estimate men according to the measures they pursue. Never promote men who seek after a state-established religion; it is spiritual tyranny--the worst of despotism. It is turnpiking the way to heaven by human law, in order to establish ministerial gates to collect toll. It converts religion into a principle of state policy, and the gospel into merchandise. Heaven forbids the bans of marriage between church and state; their embraces therefore, must be unlawful. Guard against those men who make a great noise about religion, in choosing representatives. It is electioneering. If they knew the nature and worth of religion, they would not debauch it to such shameful purposes. If pure religion is the criterion to denominate candidates, those who make a noise about it must be rejected; for their wrangle about it, proves that they are void of it. Let honesty, talents and quick despatch, characterise the men of your choice. Such men will have a sympathy with their constituents, and will be willing to come to the light, that their deeds may be examined.

Never promote men who seek after a state-established religion; it is spiritual tyranny--the worst of despotism. It is turnpiking the way to heaven by human law, in order to establish ministerial gates to collect toll. John Leland

........the stupidity of the Tennessee law and just wondering about it I have a tongue-in-cheek question about it (pretending to be serious for a moment).

If the law says, as it clearly seems to, that two people holding hands is a 'gateway to sexual activity' then there are several groups who could be considered as partaking in in 'gateway sexual activity' to which young children are often exposed, and I give just one example here:

    - Football players - they grab hold of each other on various parts of the body, and at a time when their hormones are racing!  This 'sport' - or sexually explicit gateway activity - is witnessed by the young in Tennessee regularly both live and on television, but even worse (for moronic Repugs) must be that the young are encouraged to partake in actually following the example.

The question then has to be asked 'how long is it before the Tennessee legislature ban the broadcasting of football on TV, the attendance at football games of people under the age of consent in Tennessee, or the rise of Puritan legislation banning fun of any kind.  The opening posters referral to the Tennessee Senate as 'Taliban' is indeed extremely apt in this case.

(Of course it makes you wonder why American forces, including those from Tennessee of course, have fought a war against such people abroad and yet the Taliban 'fifth columnists'  is right at home and starting to subjugate the American people with impunity.)

    The bill:

    (7) “Gateway sexual activity” means sexual contact encouraging an individual to engage in a non-abstinent behavior. A person promotes a gateway sexual activity by encouraging, advocating, urging or condoning gateway sexual activities;
On what planet, even Tennessee, is hand holding going to be deemed by anybody, particularly a court, to be "sexual contact"?  Sorry folks, piling hysterical response upon hysterical response does it lead to rational conclusion.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled angry blathering.

This is literally a typical 'law' in many orthodox/conservative Islamic societies.

Are these Tennesseeians not also the same ones who were yelling "No sahria in U.S.!" ?

I guess it is o.k. when it is them who is bringing the sharia...
