We have an idiot right-wing (though he calls himself a Liberarian) talk show host broadcasting out of WSB Radio in Atlanta who will tell his listeners not to get their news from him. Why? Because he's an idiot. One of the commercials that advertises his show even says: "He turned a personality disorder into a career" or something like that. It's a career full of hatred for federal workers and "government schools" among many other disorders. (Including that President Obama is a Marxist who knows nothing about business.)
I wouldn't listen to him except for the traffic reports that follow, precede, interrupt, provide needed information on: the lousy traffic I have to negotiate to get to work. His name is Neal Boortz and he has a government outrage of the day (this guy gets paid way too much to spew this crap).
What is his outrage today? Boortz is up in arms about a Federal Trade Commission PROPOSED rule on appliance labels. Boortz read the proposed rule on how these labels were to be affixed to appliances. His objection, I suppose, was that the labels basically needed to be uniform, but not once did he mention why - it's so the CONSUMER will be able to make better purchasing decisions. And, who provides the engine for your beloved business community, Mr. Boortz? THE CONSUMER, you nitwit. What Boortz visualized was some government bureaucrat (he called a "dork in a cubicle") who wrote the rule to "justify his job." What a consummate stick-wad you are Boortz.
And, if you don't like the proposed rule, you have until May 16 to comment on it, formally, and not on your stupid radio show with its stupid listeners.
To make it a little clearer, here is the FTC's reasoning behind the PROPOSED rule (which, but golly, you still have time to comment on if you don't frickin' like it)...
The Commission proposes several amendments to improve the Appliance Labeling Rule by streamlining requirements for manufacturers, increasing the availability of labels for consumers, and clarifying various aspects of the Rule. Specifically, the proposed amendments would eliminate duplicative reporting requirements for manufacturers, introduce a uniform method for attaching labels to appliances...
Streamlining requirements for manufacturers??? ELIMINATING duplicative reporting for manufacturers? You mean, gasp, the Obama administration is actually proposing to cut red tape AND help the consumer at the same time? The hell with that. Boortz is still voting for Romney because the president is a communist!
Then, Boortz takes his callers. First one (and I couldn't stomach any more) was a lady who was a part-time caterer. She lives in Gwinnett County (metro Atlanta) and she wanted to build a kitchen in her basement, so she called the county. She proceeded to commiserate with Boortz about all the "regulations" required to have this kitchen built. The county told her that she would need all stainless steel appliances, a separate water heater, tile floors and ceilings...blah, blah, blah, to which they both agreed that some damn bureaucrat in county government wrote this code to mess with small businesses and justify their job. Bull-s_ _t!
I don't know why the building code might have this for your residence, but if you're in there making food for people to eat, it'd better be as sanitary as a commercial kitchen that GETS INSPECTED once in a while. And...you'd better make damn sure that you don't burn your neighbor's house down by building a cheap-ass kitchen in your windowless basement. AND, lady, did you ever ask if there's a waiver process for your part-time kitchen? Did you ever just ask for 3 bids from contractors and let them worry about code? No, you're just another Obama hater who listens to this idiot on the radio so you can gin up more and more hatred against, what, I don't know. Kiss my ass.
