Remember back in early March when Minnesota was one a trio of states (along with Missouri and Colorado) that Rick Santorum swept all in 1 night to become THE alternative to Willard?
Here in MN the "beauty contest"/"Presidential preference" split among GOP voters was
Santorum 45%
Paul 27%
Willard E. Sketch 17%.
But then, the plot thinned........ (its the GOP after all.)
Of course those were precinct caucuses. You had to stick around for the voting for COUNTY delegates, and those results were different.
And the COUNTY conventions elected STATE delegates, and those results were different.
And over the past weekend the STATE delegates elected the NATIONAL delegates who will go to Tampa to decide who the GOP nominee will be.
Minnesota has 40 delegates to Tampa. 3 each were allotted to each Congressional district, so, with 8 districts, 24 seats were at stake.
Ron Paul supporters won 20 of 24!
Of the remaining 16, at least 12 are officially "uncommitted" and the Paul-ites think they can grab ALL of them as well before Tampa!
MN Progressive Project has the story here.
For more on the BAD BLOOD between the "bankrupt in all but name" MN GOP establishment and the Ron Paul supporters dating back to 2008 at a minimum, the Progressive Project is on that too!
Oh and by the way, how bankrupt is the MN GOP? Maybe $2 million in the red, but no one knows for sure because they can't afford to hire (by paying up front) an accounting firm to find out how far behind they are.
But what IS known is that the state party is SO far behind on the rent for its headquarters in downtown St. Paul (no payments at ALL since August; a few partial payments reaching back to LAST April) that their landlord, Hub Properties, has filed EVICTION papers against hem in court. Hearing is next week!
The Minn Post is on the story
Pass the popcorn!
