So a quick look at the recommended diary list shows several diaries pointing out how the big banks are screwing us all. Greece, BoA, Romney and Bain, etc. But the very top recommended diary has the following opening statement.
The main attraction of Daily Kos is that it prides itself on being a reality-based community
Meanwhile, I just got an email from this site from Chris Bowers asking us all to sign a petition to ask them to kick Jamie Dimon off the NY Fed. I think that is a great idea although I would prefer he be sent to prison where he belongs. With people like democrat Jon Corzine. I also think it will accomplish NOTHING. But what I would really like to see from this "reality based community" is some mention of the fact that the democratic president is out doing PR work for Jamie Dimon
right now.
Despite chatter of Barack Obama and Jamie Dimon parting ways, the President continues to find time in his schedule to compliment the JP Morgan Chase chief executive. Tuesday morning's airing of The View on ABC gives Obama another opportunity to praise Dimon as he makes his first public statements about the bank's $2 billion slip-up. It sounds like he sugar-coated it a little bit: "JPMorgan is one of the best-managed banks there is," Obama said (per Dow Jones). "Jamie Dimon, the head of it, is one of the smartest bankers we got, and they still lost $2 billion and counting."
This of course should be no surprise to someone who has been paying attention.
Remember this?
Feb. 10 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama said he doesn’t “begrudge” the $17 million bonus awarded to JPMorgan Chase & Co. Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon or the $9 million issued to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. CEO Lloyd Blankfein, noting that some athletes take home more pay.
“I know both those guys; they are very savvy businessmen,” Obama said in the interview yesterday in the Oval Office with Bloomberg BusinessWeek, which will appear on newsstands Friday. “I, like most of the American people, don’t begrudge people success or wealth. That is part of the free- market system.”
The Democratic Party is completely in bed with Wall Street. And yet this reality based community appears to want us to believe it is all the Republicans fault. While that might be comforting, it is wrong. Seems to me there is a lot of "It's Ok If You Are a Democrat." Like
this little fact.
The Obama administration’s record of prosecuting elite financial frauds is worse than the Bush administration’s record, which is a very large statement
Probably the greatest financial fraud in history. And Democrats are in charge. And no one is being held responsible. A reality based community should be talking more about this. Although I do agree with the President when he says this.
"Jamie Dimon is one of the smartest bankers we got"
Yes, he is. He knows he can destroy the middle class with a democratic president cheering him on. Smart. Above the law. And evil. I can only imagine what would happen if Romney or Bush said the same about Jamie Dimon.
