I truly, deeply, desperately want to eliminate riders on all bills introduced into any legislative session.
If it can't stand on its own as a bill, it has no reason to be considered in any legislative session or become a law.
I am tired, tired beyond belief, of having essential laws passed that also burden us with a plethora of petty, back-breaking little laws that sneak in and steal our futures from us.
No more riders.
No more sneaking in malicious laws under the wings of essential laws.
In fact, if our legislators would just spend the time debating and debating and researching and stalling until a law was well-written, easy to comprehend by their average, busy constituent (they should give it to a group of middle schoolers to parse), and maybe, you know, just maybe spend time actually talking to their constituents instead of just assuming we all want their bloated, pork bellied, egotistical rantings forced into laws we have to obey - well, they're turning me into a rebel. That's what they are doing.
And I blame it all on those non-essential, half-thought-out, last-minute riders.
No more riders.
