I'm noting only 1 "this day in history" item, but it's a big one - at least for me.
Harvey Milk would've been 82 today. He would've been thrilled to pieces that marriage equality is the rule of law in his birth state but would be mortified at marriage equality efforts in his "adopted" home state. We've come so far but still have so far to go.
And, because Harvey appreciated the power of laughter as much as anyone, he wouldn't mind diving on into SPARK. :D One would think this state would need a Cheese Czar instead of this kind of czar. I actually knew most of these kitty facts! Did you? The "AAAaaaWWWwww! Teh cute burnz!" is just extra. :D An appropriate caption for this photo would be "Little Help??!!" Finally, to complete this Animal Kingdom edition of SPARK, this little one is still more mature than some adults I know. ;D
On with The Rachel Maddow Show!
"Can You Hear Me Now?" - Do we have another scandal with a Congress critter? Rep. David Rivera is a MENSA critter from FL; he just might have used his campaign donations for his own personal use. AND, he fibbed to now - Senator Marco Rubio who has had some "issues" of his own. The good Rep. had been assigned to some sort of conference call with the RNC, but he was disinvited for "scheduling issues." Uh - huh... ;D Is this segment going to be again about the reaction to what Mayor Cory Booker had to say on Sunday? Oye...I get the point. The MSM is over - blowing the Mayor Booker stuff & isn't reporting widely the SNAFUs from the Mittens camp. Even former Governor John Sununu said the Bain stuff was "fair game." Okee - dokee! [My mother sparkin' feed keeps cutting out again. &^%$#@!] I wonder if Rachel's keeping this story going because Mayor Booker's a friend of her's? I hope not; I'd like to think she's more of a pro than that. TurdBlossom's cabal has a new warm & fuzzy ad out about President Obama. The claims made in the ad about President Obama with student loans pale in comparison to the advice Mittens gave about student loans. "Ya' better shop around!" And, I know you'll be shocked - I tell you - SHOCKED at this news, but the student loan memo in the ad isn't the only claim full of $hit.
"Can You Hear Me Now? Part Deux" - VP Biden's out in force to try to clear up the bull pucky from the Mittens campaign. Well, if he's as effective at that messaging as he was with marriage equality, President Obama will win in a LAND SLIDE. :D David Axelrod's going to try to do the same, I suppose. Pro - Obama ads are not only trying to clarify what this administration has done but has also tried to clarify what would happen under a Mittens administration. Mittens wants a VP like DICK??!! Oh bloody hell...&^%$#@! Campaign finance realities in a post - Citizens United world were also discussed; the average donation to the Obama campaign is just over $50. Mittens donors use $50 bills to wipe their $hitty arses. Why isn't the pro - Obama SuperPAC shelling out similar coin to prove TurdBlossom's full of turds? The WI recall is 2 weeks from today?! Holy $hit... Rachel asked Mr. David why national Dems haven't made more of a financial or other presence in that run - up to that most important of elections. Mr. David answered by talking about all the outside WI coin Governator Scotty has - not clarifying what Dems will do.
{It would appear that a chunk of this diary will mysteriously appear in bold type; I've got the Murphy's Law of tech going tonight!}
"Here's Where That 15 - Point Gender Gap Comes From" - Wow, only a state like MS is a true beacon in the nation when it comes to abortion rights - or lack thereof AND has a state representative named "Bubba!" Gawd bless America! The GOBP might - JUST MIGHT - be getting the sparkin' message that their message might be anti - woman...to be charitable about it. I wonder if the Young Guns for Ladies group carry around pink pistols? ;D The women on the Women's Policy Committee in the House have a less - than - stellar record on actual issues that concern women. A slew of them voted AGAINST the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. A bunch of Catholic institutions have filed lawsuits against this administration over the birth control coverage issue. Rep. Diana DeGette will probably not be visiting MS any time soon. She thinks birth control and/or access to it WILL be an issue in the November election. A bunch of these "ladies" on the House also voted against a VAWA that actually had some teeth to it. I hope they don't have daughters that are ever the victims of violence on the part of men.
"The Elephant in the Room" - Rep. Ron Paul might be "suspending" active campaigning, but he ain't goin' away. ;) MN MENSA folk had their state convention, and they voted in force for Rep. Dr. Paul.
"Headlines and History" - President Obama yesterday in his presser (in addition to the Bain/Booker stuff) announced firm plans for our official exit from Afghanistan - the longest war in the history of this nation. Protestors were out in force throughout the duration of the NATO meeting in Chicago.
