Obama maintains a massive double digit lead against Romney in the latest PPP poll of 500 registered voters conducted between May 24th and May 27th (+/-4.4%).
Barack Obama won't have to worry too much about holding Michigan
for the Democrats this fall- he leads Mitt Romney 53-39 there, a lead little changed from PPP's last poll of the state in February when his advantage was 54-38.
Obama is also at a record high approval rating in that state, with 53% approving of his job as president and 35% disapproving.
Needless to say, much of his popularity can be traced back to his rescuing of the auto industry.
Obama's crushing Romney on what will doubtless be one of the biggest issues in the
campaign in Michigan- 55% think that he's been better for the automotive industry in the
state to only 31% who say Romney wins out on that front.
It’s not as if Michigan was ever really a “swing state.” But it’s nice to see him doing so well there. It frees up resources for him to use in other actual tossup states.
