Poor One Million Moms. It turns out, there apparently aren't really a million of them, because they can't even outnumber the pro-equality opposition on their own Facebook page. Life is tough in the twenty-first century for a group of raging bigots who haven't stepped out of the year 1955.
It's no secret that OMM is angry. They're pissed as hell...over Ellen DeGeneres being JCPenney's spokesperson, over the GAP's gay billboard, over the fact that nobody gives a shit what they say, over their increasing irrelevance and impending extinction. And now they've got their bowels in an uproar because DC Comics decided to make one of its major superheroes...brace yourself...GAY!!! Oh, what has the world come to? Why, back in the OMM moms' day, homosekshuals were purged from the federal government. Now they're superheroes! Can you say Sodom and Gomorrah?
Yes, it's true, the Green Lantern is gay.
And the OMM gang is ever so pissed. This is the worst news they've heard since the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Why is DC Comics persecuting its good, Christian readers by acknowledging that gay people exist? As was expected, OMM took to its Facebook page to unleash its holy, righteous rage at this ghastly revelation. What happened next was pure hilarity. Follow me below the fold.
The New Civil Rights Movement has the story. OMM made a Facebook post announcing the Green Lantern's coming-out, preceded by "WARNING." But apparently the dozen million moms were sleeping in, because the post was overrun with pro-gay comments.
Way to go, DC!
Looks like I'm gonna go buy some new Green Lantern memorabilia from JC Penney!
Gay superheroes rule!
DC just earned some respect.
My personal favorite:
In brightest day, in blackest night, No intolerance shall escape my sight Let those who worship ignorance's might, Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!
From The New Civil Rights Movement:
When I happened upon the posting, it seemed that there were more than 100 comments, but when I tried to access the post on it’s individual page, it came up with an error message: “The page you requested was not found.” (Original link here.)
I went back to the main One Million Moms Facebook page, noticed there were now only 83 comments, clicked to access the post’s individual page again, took a screen shot, but noticed there were only a few dozen comments.
I went back to the main One Million Moms Facebook page again, and noticed the post was gone.
It appears that the administrator of the One Million Moms Facebook page attempted to delete the positive comments, then simply deleted the entire post.
It was easier to just give up entirely than to try to censor the pro-gay voices.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I wonder if it has sunk in OMM's head yet that its followers are a very, very, very small minority and that nobody really gives a fuck if they're upset.
Poor things.
UPDATE: The One Million Moms Facebook page linked above has apparently been taken down. But OMM insists that it's just because Vacation Bible School is rapidly approaching. LOL! From 1 Million Moms Against One Million Moms:
According to Monica Cole (the director of OMM), she has taken the OMM page down from FB for the next week because of VBS (Vacation Bible School) and she admitted she can't multi-task, so she had to take the page down as she can't do monitor all day and help with VBS.
Weird because VBS usually begins on a Monday and ends on the following Friday. It's a 3-hour a day, 5-day program. Usually begins at 9am, ends at noon. Some churches offer an evening VBS instead of a morning VBS. I used to help with my old church's VBS so I know exactly what they do. They leave when everyone else does. Kitchen crew stays a bit longer to clean up but everyone is out of the church by 1 usually.
Sorry, Monica Cole, I think you're full of it.
HAHAHAHAHA!
