Those of you who look at the Walker results and feel lost... Well I know how you feel. I went through 2004. Then I went through 2006.
That would be the thought I would share to all of you tonight in Wisconsin. It isn't over. It's never over. Republicans threw themselves at this election? Fine. Make them throw themselves at every election. Force them to expend resources, to shout themselves hoarse, and to stage one defense after another.
Question, challenge, protest at every corner. Make them feel besieged, tired. Sort of how they've been trying to make us feel these past few years. Difference is, we've had a bit of a rest, and they're on the defense. We did well tonight.
My advice, as amateurish and internetish as it may be, is that we confront Walker and all the rest of these bozos with a non-stop cavalcade of legal challenges, protests, and rallies bringing just scorn to their policies. Win as many small elections as we can so each successive election becomes a rollback of their power.
The key here is persistence. We have to make it hurt to govern, we have to make it to where they are on the defensive all the time.
We need Walker, when 2014 comes around, to be so godawful tired and irritable that he can't run an election straight.
And don't wait for the big guys to get involved. That, I think, was the mistake this time. Start early, keep the pot boiling. Don't let the results of this recall settle.
