This will be an almost daily look at life through the eyes a young man coming of age in a strange new world. Witty, Slightly Irreverent, Definitely part of the "ME Generation", you will get to know this young man through my lens, and thorough my eyes, and via my prose.
Tonight my "buddy" Paul and I went on a walk on the beach and came up with a cool new Idea for a Blog, a blog about Paul, his thoughts, his wit, his charm and his good looks. In this series I have decided to be called nothing more than "CameraMan", tough I will be writing the prose that describes the dayz and the films and the moments with Paul. First everyone always tries to define my and Paul's relationship, and all I can say is it is impossible to put a label on, but if we must choose one to apply, that would be, for now "buddies". Nothing more, nothing less, it is impossible to define clearly the undefinable. But I will say that not only am I the Camera Man, I am also Paul's biggest fan!
So tonight on an evening walk on the beach Paul suggested doing a Video Journal about Paul, and his views on all things from a Paul perspective. How is Paul, what does he think, what are his values, all of this will just have to unfold through the videos that we post to YouTube.com introducing Paul to the world.
As a disabled and retired vet, always looking for a new way to keep busy, stay current, and be relevant I was elated to have been asked to help in this project. I have always been fascinated by this young man, and think it will be fun to bring his world to life.
The sun was setting as we strolled down the hill towards the Cliff House. Paul was shooting a video of himself with an old Treo 700p phone that he picked up off a street blanket sale for 10 bucks. The dialog was really funny, and it all Paul. the video is chopped, grainy, and definitely unrehearsed, and as real as real gets. It is as deep as a puddle, and it is all, 100% Paul, a 20-something, ME Generation-er, going up in a world of video games, instant gratification, and objectification. Where it is all about living for this moement because nothing is for sure any more, and chaos reins.
Unfortunately the device and format is weak, a little grainy, and slow. But later after we talked some and discussed the project and how we wanted it to work, I shot a clip with my camera.
Paul and I decided that we would do daily clips of Paul doing Paul things, I am doing some other projects this summer which Paul comes along on, like trying to attend and walk all of the SFCityGuide.org free tours, and go see all 56 of San Francisco's "Privately owned Public Spaces', so hopefully there will be a lot of over lap in the projects.
