A new Public Policy Polling survey shows a strong majority favor marriage equality, which is on the November ballot in WA. The Washington State legislature approved gay marriage in February, but implementation is on hold pending a ballot referendum.
The survey by PPP found marriage equality with a 51-40 percent lead: In polling on statewide initiatives and referendums, 50 percent support is considered a significant bellwether.
The pollster delved further and gave respondents three choices: 47 percent said they would favor same-sex marriage, 30 percent opted for the state’s present civil unions “everything but marriage” law; and just 21 percent said they would give no legal recognition to same-sex couples.
Granted, the big money on the other side hasn't kicked in yet (the Catholic and Mormon churches and affiliated wankers) but the poll is very encouraging.
