We all love Stephan Colbert, and his Super Pac "Citzens for a better tomorrow, tomorrow", for a while it was king in ripping on the Teahadists and general wingnuttery. BUT.... now Mr. Colbert has been DETHRONED.

According to Bloomberg CREDO, a politically conscious phone company and its grassroots funded Super PAC has outraised Colbert.

CREDO super-PAC announced in a press release that it has surpassed Colbert’s group in terms of amount raised, $1.24 million as of today, a few thousand bucks more than A Better Tomorrow. All without the benefit of a national TV show, CREDO notes in its release.

The San Francisco-based “grassroots” super-PAC is tied to a mobile-phone company of the same name and is working to oust 10 “Tea Party Republicans,” including Representative Allen West of Florida and Representative Chip Cravaack of Minnesota. CREDO says its money comes from more than 38,000 donors and is being used to employ 36 organizers and maintain field offices in the targeted districts.

CREDO is so excited about dethroning A Better Tomorrow that it is sending Colbert a consolation prize — a T-shirt that says “Overturn Citizens United” and features and upside-down elephant.

From the CREDO action "Take down page and their press release
CREDO SuperPAC will support local organizing in ten districts represented by Tea Party Republicans who are vulnerable in the 2012 elections. CREDO SuperPAC is working in several Congressional Districts to defeat Tea Party Republicans including Rep. Chip Cravaack (MN-08), Rep. Allen West (FL-18), Rep. Steve King (IA-4), Joe Walsh (IL-08), Rep. Frank Guinta (NH-01), Rep. Dan Lungren (CA-03) and Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-08).
This is the kind of action we need to help put an end to the Conservative juggernaut that Citizens United is creating. Already, progressives, liberals and moderates are faced with attacks from a political and partisan Supreme Court. With the election coming up it is so very important that we put progressive lawmakers into congress and we make sure that President Obama is re-elected so that we can break the Conservative hold on the Court.

Nothing is more important than our being proactive and getting out and working for the candidates that will do the most for the average American citizen. Groups like CREDO and other progressives are vital to that effort. Check out their page and their cause. If you are in those districts, and can't donate at least try to get out and help GOTV efforts and organizing to take down the Teahadists.

So good job by CREDO and good job by Colbert. We need more of this kind of fund raising and real grassroots action if we want to take down the "Astroturfers" in November.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
