CNN, in a rush to be the first major media news outlet to report how the Supreme Court ruled on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, originally reported that the Supreme Court had struck down the individual mandate that is the centerpiece of the PPACA, only to later correct itself and report that the entire PPACA was upheld, with Chief Justice Roberts siding with the four "liberal" justices in the majority opinion.
I was actually watching CNN on television when the PPACA ruling was issued and Kate Bolduan was told by one of her producers or some other behind-the-scenes staffer at CNN that the individual mandate was struck down by the Supreme Court, only for that report to be proven incorrect.
I keep having Sago Mine flashbacks here. CNN originally reported that all but one of the miners trapped inside of the Sago Mine in West Virginia was alive, only for that report to be proven wrong, and, a few hours after the original report, Anderson Cooper was told by someone who lived near the mine that all but one of the trapped miners had been killed.
"Dewey Defeats Truman" is alive and well in the 21st century.
