Today this sorry excuse for a human being had the audacity to say that the ACA violates our God given rights. He said that liberals think our rights come from government but that they really come from God. Apparently, this man thinks God did not think it was a right to aid the sick and heal them. This same God this absolutely immoral piece of shit says created our rights supposedly sent his only Son down here to teach us the New Gospel and to show us how to behave by example. What does this perfect being from God do? He heals the sick and feeds the poor. Now if God did not think one of our rights was to be helped when we were sick, what the hell did he send Jesus here to do with those lepers? But I digress.
Here is the bottom line on our rights. We have more rights than are in the constitution. We have more rights than are in the BOR. We have so many more rights that there is an amendment in the BOR stating explicitly that:
The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.
Now I dare anyone to tell me that this sentence does not prove that the founders understood that the totality of these God given rights is greater than those listed in the constitution. The founders themselves argued about this very issue. They all knew that the BOR and the constitution was not the full list. They knew that the rights endowed by our creator were far greater than any document could define. They knew that there was no list of rights anywhere in the Bible that stated all the rights given to us by our Creator. They knew that no one in the history of mankind has ever completely, exhaustively and definitively defined a list of rights that could be checked off by some litigator like a recipe. They all knew that the government could steal or abuse your rights by force or decree. They all knew that future generations would accept protections for more rights than they did at the convention. Why? Because they wrote this fucking amendment to cover this obvious fundamental understanding of humanity and human nature.
We are now about to establish the idea that health care is a right. It will take a few years but it will be just as ingrained in our psyche as fundamental to being an American as Habeas Corpus or freedom of speech. This is what the right wing cannot stand. They cannot stand the government protecting the people with a new codified right. Well guess what suckers. It's constitutional, bitches.
