Photos from the Daily Mail:
So here's Romney, looking dapper in a sports coat and khaki slacks, protesting FOR the Vietnam Draft. He knows that as a Mormon Missionary, he's exempt from the draft. He doesn't particularly care if a bunch of his classmates die slogging through Vietnamese mud. He can get behind that. As long as he doesn't have to go himself.
And the story from the Daily Mail has a few choice moments. One of my favorites:
Carey Coulter was one of the demonstrators alongside Mr Romney that day. He told BuzzFeed.com: "We were there to get an education and these people holding the administration hostage was antithetical to that."
"Mitt walked up to me and said that he had some experience with the press, and that he would handle the press for me if I wanted him to. I said fine, because I was busy running the demonstration."
"I don't recall ever seeing him again."
So Willard shows up to a protest that someone else has organized, finds the press, gets the credit, and then disappears. This is the kind of man that Mitt Romney is. This is the kind of man that he will always be.
He will never bear the consequences of his personal viewpoints. Like so many conservatives, he supported war as long as he didn't have to fight in it. He supports the closing of businesses when those closings make him and his vulture capitalist buddies rich. He doesn't care about jobs or the United States, he cares about precisely one person: Mitt Romney.
