I believe in apologies (when warranted), acknowledgements, gratitude, praise when due, etc. So, I think this very short diary is warranted, and I'll top the squig by saying this:
THANKS.
Thanks to the majority of diarists, and those who typically comment the most/"loudest", who are very unhappy with the Obama administration right now. You're clearly showing pragmatic restraint right now in your writing and commentary, and though it's the smart and responsible choice, I commend you for putting what's best for all ahead of what your heart is probably still burning up about.
I've only seen one of the "professional left" continuing to write anti-Obama and/or anti-administration diaries...others that typically hit the Rec List, or at least garner a lot of attention, have ratcheted waaaaay down in their efforts, SEEMINGLY because we are nearing one of the most important presidential elections in a long, long time.
You haven't disappeared completely, I'm not disparaging you for your beliefs....no, I'm complimenting you on your temporary change in activity, because you're taking into context what our priorities should be over the next 5 or so months. Well done.
Moreover, I look forward to giving you a lot more of my mind, intellectual, and political efforts over the next 4 years. When Obama is re-elected, he will not have another campaign to worry about...I seriously doubt he holds another political office afterwards, unless you think "Supreme Court Justice" is (feels like it sometimes!). Obama will be in "legacy" mode...and I'm ALL for that legacy including withdrawing any notable troops from Afghanistan, no new wars of offense, and strong leadership on the healthcare, personal freedoms, and domestic finance fronts at home.
Thanks again. You're doing what you should be, but that doesn't mean we can't acknowledge it positively.
