The proof is in the Sermon on the Mount.
Jesus was a pacifist who rejected excessive private property (Matthew 5): http://www.biblegateway.com/...
Jesus taught anonymous charity and silent prayer; Jesus denounced the accumulation of personal wealth; he was against planning of any sort, and taught his disciples to live only for today (Matthew 6): http://www.biblegateway.com/...
Jesus gave extensive warning about the consequences of hypocrisy and judging others; Jesus told his followers to avoid public ministry which was not absolutely committed to all of his teachings; he rejects salvation by grace alone and says that all of his teachings must be followed for a ministry to succeed--you cannot pick and choose what you want to preach (Matthew 7): http://www.biblegateway.com/...
Matthew 5-7 contains what is known as the Sermon on the Mount. Read it all. I wanted to prove to you American Christians that you do not understand the teachings of your own god and you do not follow them. What you believe about Jesus is a lie. The Jesus you worship does not exist. Jesus' teachings are radical. They call for absolute pacifism, extreme asceticism, and considerable self-control. There is no other way to follow Jesus which is acceptable to him but this way. The American Way and the American lifestyle are contrary to Jesus' teachings. He would find America to be an abomination. He sure sounds more like a progressive than a conservative. You cannot reconcile Jesus' word with capitalism without misconstruing his teachings.
In Galatians 5:22-23 the Bible says, "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." Do these characteristics accurately describe you or anyone you know? Do you spend your time make excuses for not following Jesus' true teachings the way he said you must? Do you think he cares about your excuses? Can you even honestly call yourself a follower of Christ?
