San Antonio welcomed President Obama with open arms! The day was hot and humid but the President's supporters were there early and enthusiastic. A big bus load of people came in all the way from Brownsville!
The program started with Charlie Gonzales and the lovely Eva Longoria then Mayor Julian Castro.
Charlie Gonzales!
Our Mayor Julian Castro!
Eva Longoria
San Antonio loves all three. We are proud of our lovely Eva who is not just a beauty but a big supporter of the handicapped children as she founded Eva's Heros. She is a noted philanthropist and one of the co-chairs of the campaign.

The crowd was up beat and excited. President was bathed in the love that the people of San Antonio were sending. Here and there San Antonio/Bexar county Democrats were moving amongst the crowd shaking hands, reminding folks that they were running for this or that position, handing out campaign literature. I saw Lloyd Doggett standing and talking to someone! I introduced myself to John Courage.
But let me back up and tell the story from the beginning.
First it starts with the fact that I had jury duty the day before and I was sweating bullets that I would get pick for some extended jury case. Sat all day at the courthouse but wasn't getting called. 2:00 Rolls around and I think, "Whew I am almost free." Hubby bought me a ticket to see President Obama but if I got assigned to a case I was at the mercy of the judge. Well sure enough I get assigned to a 60 person group and when asked by the judge to speak up over conflicts. I speak up and say,"I bought a ticket to see President Obama tomorrow." The judge says,"Hmmm, Well, Let's see about that." the 60 member group laughed and I realized that maybe the judge was ......Republican!
But I was not selected thanks to the judge. Thank you, Judge!
Next day
So I get up this morning, drive downtown and set out to be first in whatever long line was formed to see President Obama. I rush over to the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center where a few folks were in line and I was enjoying the atmosphere of passionate Obama supporters. A bus unloads many supporters from Brownsville and they get in line.
A very colorful woman in an Obama dress walked around getting her picture taken with other people.
Volunteers!
Ok now for the good stuff! I think I had the best seat in the house!
Then my camera ran out of juice! So out come my phone.
I a way I was glad that my phone ran out of power because then I could just focus on listening to the President. He was fantastic! The crowd roared, "Four more years!"
So of course I was so close that when the speech ended the crowd rush forward to shake his hand. So did I! We all push to get close and here I reached though the crowd and grab a hold of Obama's hand! Little old me could barely see through the heads, the smiling face of my president as I was latched on to his hand as were a few other folks. With two hands he was shaking and smiling as he worked around the line.
I was stunned by the experience and had tears freely running down my cheeks. A woman who I shared a table with had a look on her face that was indescribable.
She said, "I got to talk to him!"
I think a lot of San Antonio Democrats had a similar experience.
I cropped out the people I was with out of respect for their privacy. I didn;t tell them I was TexMex!
It was wonderful experience.
I want to thank my wonderful husband who insisted that I go to see President Obama. It was he who insisted on our donation to the President's campaign.
The President asked for our help. He ask for my help to spread his message to others.
So here I am asking for your help to get President Obama reelected.
