Kathleen Parker's column from the Orlando Sentinel was also published in my local paper today. Parker attacks the Obama campaign for what she charges are "over the top politics" for, as she claims, "recent attempts to paint Mitt Romney as a felon."

Here's my letter to the editor of my local paper below the fold. If anyone else is inclined to use any part of it for their own letters responding to the Parker column, feel free. It's important for us to respond, and keep the heat on Romney. Obama needs us to counteract the spending and media advantage Romney has.
LETTER TO EDITOR:
Kathleen Parker claims the Obama campaign crossed the line "with recent attempts to paint Mitt Romney as a felon." But the Obama campaign is actually suggesting just the opposite, using Romney’s signed statements to box Romney in.
Obama’s campaign built a clever box for Romney that all the feigned outrage by Romney surrogates and partisan columnists cannot evade.
Here’s the box:
Lying on SEC filings is a felony.
Lying to the American public by a politician running for office is [unfortunately] not felonious.
Therefore, we must assume Romney was telling the truth when he had to -- in the SEC filings -- because lying then would have been committing a felony.
If he was telling the truth on the SEC filings (when he signed as CEO, President, etc.), then Romney is lying NOW, when he claims to have had “nothing to do” with Bain after 1999.
Obama’s campaign is not attempting to “paint Mitt Romney as a felon.” It is suggesting that he told the truth when he had to in SEC filings, but has changed his tune now, to avoid the consequences of Bain’s post-1999 business decisions. This is a box Romney cannot etch-a-sketch his way out of.
