He won't release his tax returns. Even though the political price is high and climbing. So, I continue to speculate ... what's Mitt hiding?
Today, I consider his role as head of the Salt Lake City Olympics. For those who are unaware, the SLC Olympics were tainted by corruption scandals, and Mitt was brought in to "clean things up" and finish the job. About $1.5B of taxpayer dollars were involved in this, and a large fraction of those dollars went to building infrastructure ... which means that Utah economic growth has been bolstered by blue state dollars, again.
However, there is considerable evidence that Mitt tried to use the position at the Olympics to benefit companies owned in whole or part by Bain ... of which he still retained 100% ownership. Several Examples.
This, then, may be what Mitt is hiding. That he took over a corrupt organization and made it better ... not less corrupt, but better at being corrupt. And profited mightily. Which would point out that he was far from neutral on the activities of Bain Capital from 1999 to 2001, and may also provide actual evidence of crimes by Mitt.
Of course, the fact that the records were destroyed makes that a little more difficult ... but don't worry, Mitt had already resigned from the Olympics, so he is completely exonerated from responsibility for the actions of people he hired and appointed.
