This is a test. I just wanted to see if this new dictation function in Mountain lion would allow me to actually dictate a post and put it on Daily Kos. Apparently it does.
For anyone who uses a Mac I would recommend that you install mountain lion as soon as possible. It only cost 20 bucks and it's a great deal. It actually seems to run my applications a whole lot faster.
It has a ton of new functions of course, but I think my favorite thing is the ability to dictate rather than type. You simply double-click the function button and a microphone pops up in virtually any application including, interestingly Daily Kos. And away you go. As you speak you don't see anything on the screen, but after you have dictated two or three lines the microphone will disappear and your text will appear. And amazingly, there are very very few mistakes. It also says that as you use it the program will begin to identify your voice and your intonations and the way you speak and it will become increasingly accurate.
Anyone who is used dictation software before knows that one of its great benefits is that it does not misspell words. Of course it may put in the wrong word but it's easy to go back and correct that.
Anyway, I'm psyched about mountain lion and especially this new dictation function and thought I'd share.
Oh yes, this is all been done with the microphone and with no corrections.
