This is going to be a short diary, but I just saw this ad and thought I'd share it. It will air in Maine during the Olympics coverage. The ad, which is in favor of the referendum legalizing marriage equality in Maine, features a 90-year-old World War II vet named Harlan Gardner, who has a partnered lesbian daughter named Katie. Gardner and his wife really want to see their daughter be able to marry her partner in their lifetime. And, if the favorable polls are any indication, they just may get that opportunity very soon.

This isn't about politics. It's about family and how we as people treat one another.

I officially love this guy. And this ad. I haven't seen many messages in support of marriage equality that are more moving and poignant than this. This deserves a wider audience than just Maine.
