TODAY'S COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION FEATURE:
What is your typical morning ritual?

My Morning Ritual
The first thing I do each morning before getting out of bed is take several huge slugs of S.Pellegrino. The CO2 quenches. And, if you lecture me on my green footprint I'll cover my ears and sing la la la. Its mineral content tastes so good! It's an addiction and one I believe is good for my body and bones. Still water has no taste to me, nothing quenchy. And tapwater... gag. It tastes terrible. Sorry.
Then, I open my laptop while still in bed, check my gmail and my comcast email then head for all last night's open tabs from DKos. Lately, I have to go directly to my NEW DAY piece. I love reading all the responses. It's interesting to learn about my fellow Kossacks.
Once I've fully awakened, I make myself one of two lovely morning beverages:
My organic chai brewing, with added milk it becomes a latte or I go for a kombucha gingerade, yum
I browse DKos until my beverages are gone and then it's time for sustenance. I usually eat one of two things depending on my workout plans for the day:
Organic oatmeal or eggs, both with all my supplements.
I LOVE coffee but cannot tolerate the wrist shakes it produces. I am a slow metabolizer of caffeine I've learned recently from having my genome mapped. I've learned NOT to drink it long before that knowledge. I miss coffee intensely, I wish I could drink it all day long.
On bad gurl days I eat dessert for breakfast, like apple pie. Sometimes ice cream. But mostly, I stick to the above routine.
I exercise on certain days in the morning. If I sleep well the night before I attend power yoga classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:45 AM. On Wednesday, it's the NOON RIDE at the club. On Fridays and Saturdays, it's 9:00 AM group spin where I have to crush everyone else in the room. It's what I do. It's a ritual. I touch my max heart rate of 170 once or twice but maintain 140 as an average. I hope every time I don't croak.
Showering ritual is after my workout just before the noon hour. That ritual involves a lot of killer music, water and Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Soap. Yeah, yeah, I know he's coo coo. He still makes good soap.
So...
What is your morning process by stages? What do you love to sip while waking up? What do you eat to break your fast? (And don't get me wrong. I have a box of Cheerios I keep for mornings I need fast food. Anything goes. Sometimes I don't eat anything. Sometimes it's a chocolate bar. We won't judge you.) Many Kossacks have health and financial issues and cannot work out, tell us what you do instead.
YOUR TURN: Your morning routine, what is it?
