To be a part of History!!! To flaunt your skill and greatness!! To help create something that actually physically warms someone's body as well as their heart!!
It's DK Quilt Guild Community Quilt time!!
We're trying to get this rolling earlier this year. And there's a poll.
DK Quilt Guild: A place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too!
We are considering doing more than one quilt, so a member of audience playing at home can win one as well as an attendee of NN13 in San Jose.
In an effort to not rush anyone, we'd like all blocks for the first quilt to be submitted to the piecer-person by Halloween. My personal idea is to get this out of the way before the holidays, which are Crazy Time.
If it's decided to do a second quilt, those 12.5' (12 1/2 inches square) blocks can be submitted on the same timeline or by March 1. Dates will be finalized soon, but I'm just announcing.
As for colors, orange and blue should predominate.
The following quote is from Chinton's diary on this subject for the premier DK Community Quilt:
Bottom line use what’s in your heart and in your fabric stash. You can use solids or prints, batiks or floral, contemporary or reproductions prints. Think of this quilt as a celebration of diversity.
So, here's YOUR chance! While I'm sure everyone who made a block last year is eager to do another, the second quilt opens the door for people who were shy.
Each quilt needs 12 blocks, so new people can contribute and last year's people can fill in if needed.
FORWARD!!!
(Feel free to say you'll do a block in the comments. Also, I can't do pix yet so I'm hoping someone will post last year's quilt.)
NOTE: I got called in to work for a while so won't be around when this goes up. However I will check back when I get back home. Thanks for stopping by.
