Not much of a diary - but this morning, I heard Obama's remarks about Ryan. Two things struck me - First, the President was respectful and recognized Ryan's credentials. He was very clear that hye fundamentally disagrees with his policies - but there were no personal attacks.
Second, the crowd boo'd when Ryan was first mentioned, and the President shut it down immediately - and the crowd quieted down.
Both were entirely different than the republican approach. Four years ago, McCain finally tried to put a stop to over the top comments from the crowds - but he waited months to get around to it. This year, Romney is leading the pack and making no effort to hold them back.
Even worse, after winning primary after primary with negative ads absolutely destroying his opponents, Romny can't take the heat of the Obama ads and is whining about them to anyone who will listen. And the Obama ads aren't even that negative - IMO they all point out very valid policy differences - on taxes, keeping jobs in the US, economic policy, health care, transparency in governement that begins with elected officials.
