Shades of Harry Truman in 1948! The addition of Paul Ryan to the Republican ticket has opened up not only attacks on the Ryan Budget but also a clear attack on the Republican House that is extremely unpopular with Americans. Today, "Give-Em Hell" Barack smacks Romney/Ryan hard.
[He can't eviscerate or disembowel Ryan cause it's already been done! :-) ]
Right now folks here in Iowa and across the heartland are suffering from one of the worst droughts in 50 years. Farmers and ranchers depend on a good crop season to pay the bills and put a roof over their heads, and I know that things are tough right now. The best way to help these states is for leaders in Congress to pass a farm bill that not only helps farmers and ranchers respond to natural disasters, but also makes necessary reforms and gives them some long-term certainty.
But right now, too many members of Congress are blocking that bill from becoming law. Now, I’m told Governor Romney’s new running mate might be around Iowa these next few days. And he’s one of those leaders of Congress standing in the way. So if you happen to see Congressman Ryan, tell him how important this farm bill is to Iowa and our rural communities. It’s time to put politics aside and pass it right away.
TPM: Obama Casts Ryan As Face Of Do-Nothing Congress
Being Trumanesque does not come naturally to President Obama, but in his own way, he is kicking serious Romney and Ryan ass!
Some history on Harry Truman:
Truman, trailing in the polls, decided to adopt a slashing, no-holds-barred campaign. He ridiculed Dewey by name, criticized Dewey's refusal to address specific issues, and scornfully targeted the Republican-controlled 80th Congress with a wave of relentless, and blistering, partisan assaults. He nicknamed the Republican-controlled Congress as the "do-nothing" Congress, a remark which brought strong criticism from GOP Congressional leaders (such as Taft), but no comment from Dewey. In fact, Dewey rarely mentioned Truman's name during the campaign, which fit into his strategy of appearing to be above petty partisan politics.

Romney/Ryan is a target-rich environment. They will blanket the airwaves with lies, but I think this President can handle them. It's a tough election, but it also should be fun cause winning is fun!
