Tuesday I wrote a diary on behalf of former IGTNT diarist and longtime Kossack MsWings. After a serious stroke and a series of transient ischemic attacks (TIA, or mini-strokes), she was facing a mightily dire financial situation. All this despite her nothing-short-of-heroic efforts at rehabilitation post-stroke.
Well, there is good news aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way down for our beloved MsWings! Her eviction notice was cleared and she is all set to stay in her current housing through August and possibly September -- and there are irons in the fire to find her better housing very soon.
Here is her note from yesterday (which I apologize for not posting then):
HERE'S MY BOTTOM LINE. IB MY BEHLF,k9IM ASKED THE dAILY kOS COMMUNITY FOR HEL.P. THE REQUEST WAS ABSWERED IN A HGGE WAY, AN ALMOST A UNANIMOUS"hELL YES WE WILL L HELP." THE KINDNESS AND GENEROSITY ARE NOT A SURPRISE BUT ARE MUCH BIGGER THAN i WOULD HAVE DARED TO HOPE.THE WELL WISHES AND SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED IN WAYS i CAN NEVER FULLY EXPRESS.
GOOD THAT COMES FROM BAD. THERE I'S A LESSON IN THAT WERE IT NOT FOR THE STROKE AND OTHERWISE HORRIBLE HEALTH AND THE ABUSE FROM MY SISTER,i WOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED THE SUPPORT OF THIS COMMUNITY. THAT SUPPORT HAS BLESSED ME IN WAYS NEVER IMAGINED.
In short, what you all did for her was nothing short of a miracle, as far as she's concerned. She was as low as someone can get, and because of our community, she has brought her sons into 100% of how things are going for her, they are providing lots of support, and happily and enthusiastically so (though both are college students and she didn't think it was fair for them to have this much on their shoulders).
MsWings wrote another email today, filled with good news and fruits of her efforts from throughout this week.

In short, THANK YOU, KOSSACKS, for making life bright enough for MsWings that she is thinking of learning to line dance, complete with grapevines!!
You are amazing, all of you. She read every comments and has tried mightily to respond to many emails that came her way. Every email that came to her boosted her spirits and gave her the strength to get through this VERY BUSY week -- finding new housing, making efforts to get her short-term disabilility restored, finding an attorney for her likely SSDI appeal, wrangle some paperwork help (people with Sen. Hagan's office and some local agencies just to help her fill out all sundry paperwork needed), and getting other assistance that's going to keep her a part of our DailyKos community for a long, long time to come.
Much, much love from North Carolina! Tar Heel Staters are not the giving-up kind -- but that's mostly because we have friends like you.
THANK YOU!!!
