Make sure you order up extra popcorn for the Republican Convention, in Tampa Florida, as Christine O'Donnell has just announced she will be the headline speaker at Troublemaker Fest, The TeaParty's latest counter to the Occupy Wall Street movement.
HuffPo reports:
The Tea Party favorite will headline Troublemaker Fest, a five-day event in Tampa that overlaps with the Republican National Convention. According to a press release for the event, the gathering will include "the first-ever National Tea Party vs. Occupy Movement debate."
O’Donnell, who will perhaps always be remembered for a now-infamous 2010 campaign ad in which she told voters "I'm not a witch... I'm you," endorsed Romney in his campaign for the White House last year.
Responding to her support, Romney said in a statement at the time, "Christine has been a leader in the conservative movement for many years." He added, "Christine recognizes that excessive government threatens us now and threatens future generations, and I am pleased to have her on my team."
I'm sure Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan couldn't be more pleased to hear that right-wing Tea Party notables are going to host a parallel convention in Tampa to debate OWS forces.
Ron Paul supporters are also reported to be planning on how to best get their alternative message out. I"m not familiar with what plans OWS may have, although, I have read the Tampa Police Department is passing many restrictions to prevent protesters from getting too close to the convention.
It is not clear yet if the national media will take an interest. (Ho, ho, ho.)
8:16 PM PT: This ABC Report adds that O'Donnell will be hosting Occupy Wall Street speakers to debate in the IMAX theater two blocks down from the Republican Convention.
Christine O’Donnell is looking to make some trouble in Tampa, Fla.
The former Republican U.S. Senate candidate from Delaware will host a five-day event dubbed Troublemaker Fest at an IMAX theater two blocks from the Tampa Bay Times Forum, where the Republican National Convention will be held.
Her event, slated for Aug. 26-30, will overlap with the Aug. 27-30 GOP convention.
While details have yet to be released and are still being hashed out, O’Donnell plans to host a debate between panelists from the Tea Party and Occupy movements, representing the opposite ends of America’s current political spectrum.
I wonder if we know any of the OWS speakers?
8:21 PM PT:
This from the event website which is dedicated to defeating Obama in the youth demographic. I wonder which OWS representative will show up to an event dedicated to perpetrating right-wing memes? I wonder if these will be scam "straw-man" debaters.
