Banish the gloom from the recent Q poll that showed McMahon 3% ahead of Murphy.

New PPP poll, which I trust more, shows Murphy 4 points ahead!

Whew. Now, Chris, improve the margin so I can go back to worrying about Elizabeth Warren and Tammy Baldwin.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

banish the glee too. This is far closer then it ought to be. Linda McMahon should be getting crushed regardless of how many millions she has spent so far. Murphy needs to step up his game... quick and hard.

But this is still a better poll result that we've seen in a while, and for those of us whose days are marred by bad polls and have to drink a lot of wine to calm down, this is very helpful.  My liver is thankful.

  •  Don't relax (0+ / 0-)

This race is close but people don't know Murphy that well yet and McMahon probably has little upside considering all the ads she has run for months.
In the end the states democratic nature will win the day.
I also think Brown is pretty safe, but the pacs have spent tens of millions going after him.

  •  The results page doesn't show (0+ / 0-)

whether this is of likely voters, registered voters or all respondents.  That information is key.  Perhaps PPP's main page will show that later, but until then, look at this with caution.

  •  Roll call the WWE dead... (1+ / 0-)

...To show that working with Linda McMahon is bad for your health.  The list of people who have walked through the doors of World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment under her co-stewardship, and left in a casket, during or after their tenure with the organization, is atrociously long, so many of whom died before they were 50, so many of whom died as recently as 15 years ago!  It is no secret that many of the deaths (which include a murder/suicide) are the result of drug use (steroids above all), which WWE condoned even as pro sports were starting to crack down hard.

Run an ad with the pictures of the WWE superstars who are either dead or suffering from various illnesses as a result of their work within the WWE, and Murphy will grab even bigger lead.

  •  Bad news for Murphy (3+ / 0-)

First of all, that's a poll of Registered voters, not likely ones. Plus, Q is considered the best pollster of CT as they are from there. And even this this is RV, it shows Murphy way down from his previous PPP numbers! To me, this conforms what the other polls say and this race is only Lean D - Murphy better get his sh*t together or he's going to get pile-drived by McMahon.

  •  I don't think that people should ignore Ras (0+ / 0-)

Do they lean Republican?  Yes, but that doesn't mean that their numbers are fraudulent, like whatever outfit did the dKos daily tracking polls back in 2008, and I don't think anyone has ever called their methodology into question.  All pollsters lean one way or the other.

Just take their numbers as what might happen in less-than-optimal conditions on election day and use them as a baseline when comparing them to future Ras polls.  Even if you don't think the numbers are entirely accurate, the movement will tell you something.

  •  It's a good sign for Murphy after the Q poll (3+ / 0-)

Both polls could be right depending on who shows up.  This race reminds me a bit of the Jerry Brown v. Meg Whitman race.  Brown didn't spend during the summer and Whitman spent a lot.  After Labor Day, Brown really went after her, engaged Democratic leaning voters, got a big turnout and won by a fairly comfortable margin.  If Murphy is a decent campaigner, with a little money he should be able to win that CT seat with a margin of 3 to 7 points.  It will be closer than it should be, but a win is a win.
