Brit, recently, you were talking in your sleep, so I felt obliged to wake you and remind you what the face of ugly really looked like. Now we have to remind you what the face of beauty looks like, too? Keep this up, and we're going to need to schedule you for a mental status exam.
I was bowled over to read this comment Brit made when he reviewed Ann Romney's speech in Tampa:
I think that was the single most effective political speech I’ve ever heard given by a political wife.
Oh REALLY?!?!?!!
I could understand how Brit Hume might have forgotten Eleanor Roosevelt's speeches. Were they great? Maybe not. Never mind the impact the woman had.
Let's be charitable and limit this comparison to speeches made by women who were nothing more than the candidate's wife, You will be hard put to find such a woman in Democratic circles, most of these women work for a living, but what about Michelle Obama? Here's just one part of one speech. This doesn't move you, Brit?
Not good enough? What about Elizabeth Edwards?
I don't know how many tomorrows I have, none of do, really. I want to fight now. I need to fight now, and I'm buoyed by the fact that you are fighting now.
But what about Hillary Clinton? Surely, you have heard of her. Here's just a small taste on ONE issue -- compiled over the years...
Who can forget such great moments as this one:
"My mother was born before the women got the right to vote. My daughter got to vote for her mother for president!"
Maybe we need to limit this comparison to speeches by wives of candidates delivered at national party conventions....
No problem, Brit, here's another stem winder from Michelle....
Now tell me, seriously, Ann Romney's speech in Tampa ranks as "the single most effective political speech I’ve ever heard given by a political wife" in the last 70 years? And you wonder why no one cares what comes out of the talking heads on FOX. We routinely see the same thing -- coming from somewhere else -- in the smallest room in our house.
