There is news of a confirmed breach of the levee at Port Louis/Guste Island near Madisonville, LA. This is a different situation than the previously reported overtopping at Braithwaite, LA.
Search and rescue is underway.

2:42 PM PT: Search & rescue also being reported in Slidell because of severe flooding unrelated to any levee breach.
5:10 PM PT: Reports of a tornado going through Gulfport, MS. Damage is being reported. No word on injuries.

The good news:
Lake Pontchartrain levels are stabilizing.
The state has gone ahead and purposely breached the levee near Braithwaite, LA (Plaquemines Parish) to relieve flooding. Drainage is expected to take 2 days instead of the 2 weeks the ACOE said it would take using pumps only.
The new levee system in NOLA appears to have worked well.
News seems to be mostly good so far.
The bad news:
Damage pics and video are really starting to come in now. Not too bad considering the extended pounding but still not great.
Dusk to Dawn curfews are in place extending up to Baton Rouge.
I have yet to see any word out of Grand Isle, LA. It is very low and not protected by any levee system.
7:17 PM PT: Still no word out of Grand Isle. 100's being evacuated in St. Tammany Parish. Curfews in place in most of southern LA.
The storm appears to be spinning down from radar presentation. Hopefully the Midwest gets the rain it's been desperate for.
